After Effects and Element 3D tutorial

In this video I show how to make realistic scenes with the plugin of Videocopilot, Element 3D in After Effects.

First I show the camera tracker. In the newer versions of After Effects it is just one single button, there are some important things you need to know about it. The most important is when you place a 3D model in front of a tracked camera and you place it relying on your eye its movement probably will slip. Because of this you will need to create a Solid layer wich is exatly in that point where you want to place your model when you tracking a camera. You will know exactly the height, width, depth and the tilt.

It is a very huge help if you place tracker points when you record your videos. This means that you will place 4 ( but minimum 3) contrasting tiny markers where your 3D model will be in your film. After this you will have to remove them.

In the next step of this tutorial i will show you how you can delete these properly. If you able to make a picture or a video of the texture of your object you want to put your tracker points on is a great help, because it will be more easier to put on the photo layer.

After this comes the positioning of your 3D model. This is very important, but if you make the previus tasks, you will handle this one easily. In the tutorial i show you how to easily animate or move your model.

The 3D robot model you see in the video is prepared to have the Anchor point where it is need to move. For example with the arms in the shoulder or with the head in the neck. Because of the when it shows up in your composition first you have to place these. This is very simple, you just need to move them where you want to be, ypu can see thin in the video.

Here comes the essence of it what is to say not only a 3D model in your films scene but to be realistic. The key is the ligths, the reflections, the shadows, the colors and of course the 3D Element’s proper settings. You can see this all in the tutorial video, but if you have a question, ask it here or in the comment section.
